Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor is very knowledgeable, format of class is lecture with interactive discussion among students, professor, and guest speakers from different healthcare backgrounds. Class readings are posted online requiring no material purchase. You can ask questions and you are challenged to think about healthcare issues and solutions. You are given 8 opportunities to write briefing papers even though you only need 3 graded. You have to write a 12-15 page research paper, but you may write it with one other student.

    Course highlights:

I loved the class participation element of course and the critical thinking to solve problems in healthcare. I learned that the 3 competing aspects of healthcare are cost, access, and quality and that all three aspects cannot be met at the same time. The American Healthcare System is not sustainable and healthcare costs keep escalating. To solve healthcare problems requires creative thinking.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to follow professor's questions to address and format for briefing papers to get an A. Read assigned readings and look for healthcare articles to discuss in class. When selecting a research paper make sure to narrow down topic so that it is specific. Class attendance is also important since it is part of participation grade (10%) and 90% of grade is written assignments.
