    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is a prerequisite for other programs but is very difficult. I earned my first B in this class (my lowest life grade) by failing to anticipate the effort required and the precise nature of the subject. It was very interesting, but often seemed irrelevant and useless in real life application. I'm not sure I could have done much more to succeed but read every chapter twice! Attendance was also counted and the learning very self-regulated.

    Course highlights:

I gained a knowledge of metabolism and the structures of organic substances (everything from fuels to dietary fats, drugs, and more). I was introduced to different career pathways involving chemistry and medicine and I am better equipped to understand medicines, ingredients lists, interactions, and even academic studies. There were many points of interest relating to real life and many moments where other subjects became clear in their relations to each other.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do not take this course unless you must, unless you love chemistry, or unless you are ready to dedicate all your efforts to it.
