    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This class is one of the most applicable classes you can ever take if you are, or plan to be, a parent. You will learn what is normal behavior for children, and how different parenting styles affect a child's ability to have healthy development.

    Course highlights:

I learned that Authoritative Parenting is the best type of parenting you can practice. It's not that there's one right way to parent a child, because that's not realistic. Every parent is different, and every child is different. It's more about the attitude behind the parenting and how you approach difficult topics with your children. Authoritative is firm, yet communicative. It's having standards (which can vary family to family, and child to child) but allowing your children to communicate their feelings and, as a parent, actually listening to them and valuing their opinions.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Have an open mind and be prepared to recognize the flaws in your parent's parenting style, as well as your spouse's parents (if you're married).

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class was by far one of my favorites. It was full of applicable information about parenting, but also a lot of the reasoning behind things. Our professor was also really good at having us choose based off of study and other things what was the best form of parenting. There was lots of discussion and the class is smaller, so you can learn a lot!

    Course highlights:

I think my favorite part of this class was both the spiritual hybrid that our professor used, and the last class where we got to meet the parents of some special needs children. It was touching to see it in action.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take SFL 210 and this class will be a breeze! Also, you don't need to be married or have children or even be dating to take the class.
