    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course was hard! But it was the most fulfilling course I particicpated in last semester. The professors are hilarious and give engaging lectures, while making sure that the students are learning. The labs are efficient and contribute to the learning process. I walked away from this course feeling like I had a solid foundation of biology.

    Course highlights:

This course covers the basics of general biology. We learned about DNA, cells, molecular processes, evolution, ecology, and genetics. My favorite section was the evolution unit; I love learning about and seeing the evidence for human evolution. The professors did a great job helping us reconcile our personal beliefs with the theory and evidence of evolution.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

It is very important to never miss the weekly lab. Although at first it may seem unrelated to lecture material, it all ties in. I also started visiting the open TA lab weekly about halfway through the semester, and my grades noticeably improved. The TA's are in the class to help you; use them!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Jensen is an amazing professor, she helps you learn how to learn. She also teaches in a way that allows you to discover the subject matter before and learn about it first hand.

    Course highlights:

I loved learning about genetics and evolution in Dr. Jensen's class.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention in the lectures and take diligent notes during the lecture

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a great introduction course to biology but the way Dr. Keowe teaches is a great way to effectively learn the necessary subjects we needed in order to not only do well on tests and assignments, but how to learn more about all concepts and subcategories of biology and careers that fulfill what we want to study and learn.

    Course highlights:

I loved the lectures and how intuitive they were but the fact that he had other professors come in and show us about evolution, or plants, or other subjects of biology was great exposure to what the school and research they do. It was a great class to learn about many fields of biology.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study how he tells you to. He gives us What Should I Know sheets which specify which terms, practice questions, and concepts we should focus on. USE THOSE! They are an excellent tool to helping you have a more focused and enjoyable study.
