Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This professor spent extra time outside of class to help every student get to know him, to make sure that they understood the homework, and he even took the time to tailor the class to what the students wanted to learn about. Outside of class he planned experiments to show us, and spent personal time, sometimes, to make sure he had new experiments to show us. He then taught us the chemical formulas for the reactions and taught us the "why" of the class. I was very impressed with how personal he made the class for the students, and how much effort he put into knowing each student's name.

    Course highlights:

I learned to be curious about life in this class. I alo learned how to find the answers to my questions. I had always wondered how, exactly, artificial gems were mad, WHY the sky is blue, and the why of several other basic questions. This professor didn't just give the why, but dove deep into what that reason also applied to. I have a better understanding of the common chemicals-and not-so-common chemicals around me because of this class. The research skills that I took from it were also fun to learn.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go into the class expecting to work, but barely notice the work because of the lengths the professor goes to to make it fun and interesting. I am extremely impressed.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course! Professor Alvarez is such a good teacher and very good at explaining concepts. She is super willing to help you if you are struggling. She is also humorous and makes the lectures entertaining.

    Course highlights:

I learned the basics of Chemistry! I had never taken Chemistry before taking this course and was dreading taking this class, but Professor Alvarez made it a great experience.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Just stay on top of your assignments and go to class!! If you do that, you'll be just fine.
