    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The class content is great and very effective to students learning. Class is never boring and full of exciting applications of chemistry in the real world. These experiments and demonstrations made learning concepts much easier and more understandable.

    Course highlights:

The highlights are the experiments and demonstrations performed in class as well as the video lectures watched from home. They supplied much more supplemental learning and understanding for the course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study and watch all of the video lectures. Make sure you stay on top of assignments and know the due dates for homework and quizzes. Always plan ahead when studying for midterms as well, 2 weeks to start studying before a midterm will ensure that you are well-prepared for tests.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Heemstra is the best professor and so inspirational. His lectures are clear and he explains things really well. If you're going on to study chemistry in depth you need to have a strong understanding of these general chemistry principles.

    Course highlights:

Dynamic equilibrium and acid base reactions are heavy. Calculation of pH buffers, this is very useful in biochemistry.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Know algebra! This is a very math intensive class that requires a robust knowledge of algebra, including natural logarithms, log base ten, quadratic equations, etc.
