    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

The material itself wasn't the most interesting thing in the world but how it was taught was. Professor Mathison would give in great detail his many trips abroad and every time relate them to the material being taught. He talked about his time in Ethiopia being attacked by flamingos near a boiling lake, his tour through Sudan before the civil war, and evading police in Morocco for being homeless. I never missed a lesson because everything he taught was not only for the class but it was true to life.

    Course highlights:

It is a basic writing course so you learn essentially how to write every essay for your entire college career. Most will be review for those who have completed high school so it is appealing not to show up and just do the bare minimum. That's why Prof. Mathison was such an impactful teacher, he took a fairly easy course that most would just skip and made it into the highlight of the day for many like me.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The college has a whole department that helps you with essays so if you are struggling don't hesitate to go and get a quick tip or two. Additionally Prof. Mathison was very accommodation to students who would approach him with questions or concerns about the course material.
