    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class made me fall in love with biochemistry. John Heemstra's lectures are amazing. He really is on the students side and goes out of his way to present the material in a fascinating way and provides you with all the tools you need to thrive and understand the material.

    Course highlights:

I loved the entire course, but was especially fascinated when learning about the chemical mechanisms that underlie the transport of Oxygen by hemoglobin in our red blood cells. This class really applied everything I learned in the first 4 semesters of chemistry and tied it together to help explain the critical chemical processes that are the very basis of life as we know it.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The best peace of advice I can give is to honestly put the time in. You simply cannot cram your way through this course if you want an A. All the material is tough but the tests are fair. You need to make the textbook and practice problems given to you by the professor your best friend in this class. Also, get yourself a white board and a good number of flash cards.
