Dr. Payne makes learning interesting and fun. The assignments for this course were not only relevant for the coursework, but also for every day life.

    Course highlights:

I learned to look at life from a developmental perspective. The stages people are currently in dictate their actions, beliefs, and personalities. We all share a common bond in the sense that we all face developmental challenges along the way, and through gaining an understanding of this, we can better understand each other.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is essential if you pursue a degree in Child and Family Studies, but it is also a wonderful class to use to fulfill a social science requirement. This course takes you on a developmental journey from conception to death. It is enlightening and eye opening to learn about the various stages of development throughout the lifespan.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course for me was learning the complexities of development during adolescence and emerging adulthood. I have a better understanding of what these children go through and how to better approach various situations based on their cognitive and physical development. I also greatly enjoyed learning about elderly individuals and how to avoid using stereotype and ageism while interacting with them.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would consider heavy studies and developing a strong understanding of course concepts before exams. Always consult Dr. Payne if you are struggling with anything, she is very willing to help.
