Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is based on collaborative learning mostly and that is what I respect about this course. We most of the days collaborate on class activities and projects. We discuss our perspectives, answers and ideas based on the topic, so we could learn more from more backgrounds.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot from this course. I am an international student, the most thing i was concerned about was my writing skills and the class emphasizes on writing composition. First thing I learned is to compose my ideas into a well-concise paper essay. Second thing i learned is how to narrow my broader ideas and to broad my narrow ideas based on the collaboration in the class. Third, I learned more new thing, ideas and flourish my knowledge based on the variety of topics we read and talk about. Lat but not the least, improved my language and communcation skills.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Most important, if you are having hard time with an ask your instruction about it, do not hesitate or be shy because they would love to help you when you have hard time. Thus, they see your passion in learning. In addition, if they are not available, ask your classmates, friends, tutors or students who took the class etc. Be Collaborative!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This was a course that challenged my personal beliefs and taught me how to express myself and my opinions on controversial issues more effectively. Since the course focuses on current events and social issues in the world today, students are taught to pay attention to the world around them and realize that we are all interconnected.

    Course highlights:

In this course, we watched a great deal of documentaries. One unit in particular focused on the poverty that exists in the United States and how cities went from being booming business-filled streets to rotting housing projects. I was able to learn so much about the lives of people who live in projects that people usually ignore. This course, and unit, changed my perspective on people and poverty.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are going to take this class be prepared to be challenged and to see things you never thought existed.
