    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Elliot gets extremely off topic and tends to teach material that is not on the test. He fails to actually cover material that IS on the test. The test averages are very low, but he tends to have a very generous curve towards the end of the semester.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this class was the generous curve at the end of the semester. If I only took Chem 100, I'd say I learned just about nothing; however, going onto Chem 200, I really knew a lot. I would not have been able to do well in Chem 200 without 100. Its a good basic class. I just wish Elliot taught better.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Study, study, study!! Do all of the homework and review all of your notes. Do not read the book. Go over the problems that he does in class because he tends to put those on the exams. Go into office hours because he is always willing to reexplain things. Elliot understands the class is hard so as long as you put in the effort and accept that chemistry is hard, you will do well!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was a very challenging, yet very interesting course. For those who have taken Chemistry in high school, it is an extension of that material. This is a collegiate course, and is very difficult. However, if you take the class seriously, and put effort in the full work load, you will do great.

    Course highlights:

Professor Elliott often took what we were learning and applied it to real life. He would ask us intuitive questions about stories or certain things in the news or personal life, and how it relates to the material. This included everything from sweet tea to carpet cleaner to drain cleaner products to oil movement. It isn't just a cut and dry chemistry course; he includes how relevant the material is to real life.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take this course very seriously! This is a class that many people took for granted, and failed...multiple times. Take advantage of office hours, and try to attend every lecture.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Do you need the course? If you don't then it's whatever.

    Course highlights:

You definitely need to learn independently.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to learn outside of class.
