    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Well this is a mandatory course for incoming SMAD majors so if you want to get into the major you have to do it. Its challenging for sure. It is a lot of notes and the only grades going in are test grades. But the professors are very helpful and great for networking if you get to know them and attend their office hours.

    Course highlights:

I found this course to be very interesting as it studied both the old and the new aspects of media and mass communication. You learn about the creation of modern media tools we use now and how we apply them in the current society.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

It's definitely going to be challenging but just go into it knowing that and ready to tackle the material. Dedicate time every week to study and make sure you know the current chapter and whats going on in the class. Attend office hours and get to know the professors. I got to know them well and was later able to count on one for a reference letter to study abroad on a program through SMAD.

    Course highlights:

It teaches you of the history of media from mores code to the television networks we love today.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Never miss a class. Take all the notes DURING class. Read every chapter. Go back and study all notes and review all chapters.
