This class was tough.
Personally it's a new area of study for myself. Simply put it's about databases, from simple definitions to the complexity of creating them. The course goes so much more beyond that. Dr. Lapke is a great, entertaining professor. I found myself to be very engaged in the course. All the information is new and challenging. Yes, I use computers and other technology everyday but it's awesome to see the basics to how they are created and programmed.
The course is nearly half way over, not quite there yet. So far the highlight of the course was creating our own database using Access. We got to impute a lot of information, play around with their relationships, and change their attributes. It was a hard process for myself at the beginning but once I got an understanding it was pretty simple. Next we will be working with Excel in a way I never have.

Advice for students:
A lot of the information can be pretty new to most students, or maybe it was just me. It is a challenging course but it can be done. The best advice I can give is pay attention. I've noticed that when people don't understand they tend to zone-out, myself included, but if you pay attention it makes doing the work a lot easier. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions, email the teacher, or go see them during office hours.
