Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

If I had to choose one main reason to recommend this course, it would have to be that it's structure din a way that's easily accessible, even if you don't have a lot of prior programming experience. The lab portion helps you not only associate with classmates but encourages problem solving with the basic Java problems presented, and I think that can be really valuable to some people.

    Course highlights:

I hadn't had a lot of Java experience before taking this course, so I'd say the highlight of this course for me was simply being able to learn more about Java and be able to utilize it effectively. While later classes continue to add on concepts to learn, I gained a solid foundation through CMSC 255, learning basic programming practices and object-oriented programming specific to the Java language.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't be afraid to go to office hours or even ask questions during lecture when appropriate. There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to know more about a topic or needing clarification to help you understand, you gotta remember to help yourself.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Class is less helpful, but you can get up to 5% extra credit based off attendance (online attendance for most of classes through Carmen Connect) so still worth going.

    Course highlights:

Exams and quizzes are all multiple choice and fairly simple.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

She's trying and she cares, but it is a HUGE class and she does have a heavy accent.
