Pretty easy, overall.
Dr. Hilson was funny and made the class interesting. She combined teaching issues of race with gender and helped me as a freshman to see the bigger picture.
The class was very interactive. My favorite assignment (I can't recall the name of it) involved us being split into groups and being families. We all had different social statuses and families and had to budget wisely and make the best decision possible with what we had. Some of the groups were rich, others were poor, and others were middle class. However, one of the things that stood out to me the most in this class was that a black woman is at the bottom of society - black lesbians being at the absolute bottom.

Advice for students:
Expect to engage in class discussions and learn about the various perspectives others share, whether they look like you or not. It's an amazing learning experience.
