    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

J Harper is an excellent teacher. While jamming the class into a 6-week summer course is demanding and technical, having a flexible and demonstrative instructor warrants candid approval. Do not take this class if you are ill prepared for a challenge. The additional 20 minute long presentation for the Biomedical Research Project is an added task likened to taking another 3 credit class.

    Course highlights:

Cellular biology, microscope experiences with epithelial cells, genetics, DNA replication, protein synthesis, and more! Expect to spend all your waking time in study.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If you do not understand something, watch a YouTube video to gain missing pieces of detail about the subject or function. Don't just rely on a lecture and book to get you through a science course, for there is always more to understand.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course because it's a requirement, but also because the teacher really knew what he was talking about and is very involved in the area. I really appreciated how much he knew and how easy it was for him to help me.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were being able to express your opinion freely and being able to talk to the professor about your grades or assignments. This course was mainly there to refresh my memory on biology, but also take a different turn than high school biology. I liked how much more I learned and actually understood.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely study for the weekly quizzes by taking notes during lecture and using the study guides he posts online. Show up for lecture because he explains things that aren't on the slide.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because of the information you get that helps in future courses. It was very interesting and fun, especially lab.

    Course highlights:

My favorite parts of this course where the lab classes. Learning about microscopes and looking at tissue samples was very fun.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    Study. Pay attention in lecture.
