Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course because it's a requirement, but also because the teacher really knew what he was talking about and is very involved in the area. I really appreciated how much he knew and how easy it was for him to help me.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were being able to express your opinion freely and being able to talk to the professor about your grades or assignments. This course was mainly there to refresh my memory on biology, but also take a different turn than high school biology. I liked how much more I learned and actually understood.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely study for the weekly quizzes by taking notes during lecture and using the study guides he posts online. Show up for lecture because he explains things that aren't on the slide.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Bolke is a very helpful and insightful instructor. You learn a lot from his class, and his teaching method is both engaging and informative. The class is not always easy, as there is a lot of information to cover, however, Professor Bolke will help you to understand what you need to know for the class.

    Course highlights:

You learn a great deal about biochemistry and the very basic foundations of how organisms function. You also learn a lot about how complex the bodies of living organisms are, and how even the tiniest single-cell creatures have amazing complexity.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

This course is mainly dependent on tests and lab participation. Going to the labs and completing his work sheets is the easy part. The hard part is the tests. There aren't very many, but they cover a lot of material. Plan on putting at least three hours a week studying, more if you want to do really well. He puts the lectures online, so you can study them any time you want. Those will be your greatest tool.
