    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

On the later parts of the program, as Dr Kathy Kelly teaches the rest of the class, I learned that in order to solve a problem that plagued society, one must learn to see the situation through a system's lens and dig deep into the problem. It is through such deep thinking which then led to create solutions which enables long-term benefits for society.

    Course highlights:

the seminars, the systems theory, the presentation Dr Kelly provides, along with her one-on-one mentoring which makes it possible for me and others to learn how to create a program which solves problems, not making problems

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Push yourself hard to think and you will like the class. Otherwise, you will be overwhelmed by the amount of work and the diversity that is in the class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to any student that is seeking to become a teacher or a community organizer. You will learn a ton on how to see if your group is civically intelligent and how to increase it so that you can get things done as a group.

    Course highlights:

Tons of reading and discussions. All the readings are there to contribute to the seminar in the group. Get ready to get involved with the community in Olympia if you come to the program. I learn that a civically intelligent society is the one that first care for its people and that everyone invest their time to show solidarity to one another rather than being selfish.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read and get involve. You will succeed more if you put your heart into reading the readings and find relevance in your life with what you are reading. Put your thoughts into use for the discussions and write a ton of reflections that pertains to you. Be honest.
