Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a fantastic course that aids students with developing important communication and life skills that will aid them in their professional careers and even in their academics.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to write and format professional resumes, cover letters, and memos. I also learned how to professionally manage and develop projects and presentations within a group environment.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Ask questions, Dr. Plevin is extremely helpful and motivated to see her students succeed. Also, take advantage of her office hours if you want in depth input on your drafts!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to future students because of the experience gained from writing different kinds of professional documents. Each assignment resembles common documents seen in many different fields.

    Course highlights:

The course expects you to put yourself in a professional environment since each document is graded as if it were sent to a future employer. For instance, drafting the memo gave me an insight on the time spent that is needed perfecting and analyzing a document that i would use in my future career as a police officer. This course also requires a job application to be produced which provides an advantage of being able to professionalize the resume. Submitting a final draft during the course allows for any constructive criticism to be made before a future employer views it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Give yourself enough time to properly draft, revise and edit your papers before submission. Make good use of the group reviews by coming to class with a full written rough draft when assigned.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This course, Creative Writing, is a fun class with a relaxed atmosphere which emphasizes students' growth as writers rather than grades.

    Course highlights:

The biggest highlight was being able to hear constructive feedback from both the teacher and other students on my creative work.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't be afraid to experiment with new ideas. Grades depend on whether or not you did the work, not on how "good" your writing or story was.
