Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I mainly recommend the professor, Stacie van Deputti. While her teaching style did not match my learning style, she explained complicated math concepts in ways that we were all easily able to understand. The course itself, pre-calculus 1, is obviously a requirement for upper level math classes. I'd recommend it mainly for the fact that it will help you become more efficient in basic math concepts that will be used in other classes.

    Course highlights:

Math is not my strongest subject, but this class has definitely been helpful in higher classes I have taken. The graphs were definitely a key part of the lessons, and Stacie explained them in ways that I still use to help me.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Just don't get behind on the homework, take notes, and you should be fine. All the homework is done on WebAssign, which will immediately tell you whether your answer is correct or not, and provides example problems that proved to be very helpful in my learning.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I, personally, am terrible at math. I am a great student with an eagerness to learn as much as possible, but when numbers are involved, I feel helpless. With the aid of sylvan, I am expecting a C out of this class which is the lowest grade I have received from a college class.

    Course highlights:

Besides the quadratic formula, factoring polynomials, and memorizing the turns of a 3rd degree trinomial graph, I learned a lot about my strengths and weaknesses as a student. I work best in a lecture set classroom as auditory teaching is my favorite way of learning. This quarter, however, I gained the skill of teaching myself techniques of math through a text book, a skill I previously did not have.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not give up when you get an extremely low score on the first exam. Although it is discouraging, the only way you get defeated is if you let the grade number intimidate you to the point of giving up.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

The teacher is fantastic and I have never been able to learned mathematics so easily.

    Course highlights:

Online assignments were always due at an appropriate time based on the difficulty of the assignment. There was really nothing we went over or came across I did not comprehend and learn.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take notes in class and come prepared with your questions at the beginning of class.
