Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

In this course, although I have taken AP English Comp, I learned to think and incorporate the previously learned materials into my papers in a more effective way. I learned the difference between high school papers vs college papers. My professor genuinely cared about my learning and well-being. Even though not everyone would be able to experience what I have gone through, but by taking 131, it preps you for college writing, especially if English isn't one of your strong sugjects

    Course highlights:

In this course, I gained a stronger understanding of how to synthesize the information that I was able to extract from a text, and use it to strengthen a stance that i either am taking or making. I would say that the most helpful writing technique that i have learned form this course is intertextuality.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't procrastinate! That's a given, but also remember to stay on top of your assignments, as you will have a new paper to submit every week. In Comp 131, I learned that sometimes you just need to sit down and grind out that first draft, and after that everything will fall into place. Also start on your portfolio as soon as possible, will will thank yourself later when you see your classmates stressing out on the portfolio when they have other finals to take and study for.

Don't procrastinate. I had a terrible keeping up in the class and I ended up pushing myself higher than I could imagining to pull together a decent portfolio.
