    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was incredibly difficult and I had a tough time studying. I considered myself a good coder before this class, but despite all of the resources and help given I struggled to understand concepts and keep up with the fast pace.

    Course highlights:

I like the interesting homework projects given to students, but had a difficult time completing them.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Use school resources and ask for help from TAs.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would strongly recommend this class, not only this is a prerequisite if you want to apply to CSE department, but this course helps you to build up a basic understanding about java programming and paced the movement to deeper computer language learning classes.

    Course highlights:

the high light is some basic knowledge you will need to learn in programming. the private and public method, "this" keyword, recursive backtracking, stack and queue. and how to implement those for real life usage.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

please study hard and work on the assignment before it's close the due date. Try your best to go to lecture and don't skip quiz section, because you will do tons of example questions in section that helps a lot in test and future program.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Coming into this class, I had little to no confidence in my coding abilities. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to succeed in this class, especially since I haven't coded in a while. However, Straayer really cares about his students and emphasizes that we learn to code over anything else. While it is not as fast paced as I am used to at UW, I have not regretted taking this class over the summer. Definitely worth it

    Course highlights:

I liked learning about GUI programming, as well as data flow and interfaces.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Utilize your resources, and be social. Make friends early so that you can succeed together throughout the time of the course.
