    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The class was my favorite class so fair. The material was always very interesting to me. I like cells and biology. I never found myself falling asleep.

    Course highlights:

The labs were the highlight of this class and mostly because my TA was amazing. The people I had lab with were always fun and energetic. The labs themselves were never boring, always fun and mostly partner labs.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to class everyday, write everything she writes and says because it will be on the exam. You will remember bacteria names, virus and diseases. Her stories sometimes are extra credit. She talks about her animals a lot.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I absolutely loved the professor. She is very dedicated and never missed a single class. All her tests are very straight forward and her grading are on point. I learned so much about our environment and have been continuously thinking about the places and cleaning detergents that I can used in everyday life. I recommended this class. Textbook are not needed, you just have to attend class everyday. Make sure to write a thorough notes!

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot in this class, especially about our environment. We can acquire many diseases and germs from the air, water, and soil. When I took this class, I did the soil project which was really fun and interesting. We were also given cleaning detergents to see what was best and what was worse.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be ready, attend class, and take good notes. I recorded her lectures, sometime she can talks too fast. As English is not my first language, recording the notes are helpful. Be sure to re-read your notes at least 5 minutes a day and at least 1 hour everyday before the exam. I manage to pass the course with an A and so can you.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I found the class to overall be a good experience. For any who have an interest in the world of microbes it is a good place to start. I also found the lab environment to effective and well layed out, so that most of the time was spent doing the experiment as opposed to just trying to figure out what it is you need to do.

    Course highlights:

I gained some valuable insight as to what being a microbiologist would actually be like in a work environment and I learned about many of its applications in the world and job market. I would say the major highlight has to be the time you spend in lab.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The tests do not use multiple choice answers but instead use short answer questions, so you will really need to know the material covered. Another important aspect is that many of the cells, microbes and anti-bodies have specific names and attack specific things. This causes difficulty because the name given to these can be simply the general name followed by a series of numbers and letters. Because of this memorization is very important and I would recommend trying flashcards.
