Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This was a good course to take, it was a required element for me and though I feared math, I was able to pull an A in the class! It took a lot of hard work to do that, but the class was very informative and there was a lot of help available! Having not taken any sort of math class in near 20 years, it was a challenge for me but Professor Beinstock and the other aides that were available throughout the 16 week course gave me the push that I needed to be able to come through the class with wonderful results!

    Course highlights:

I got a refresher course in beginning and intermediate algebra. Some of the subjects were tougher than others but there were a lot of aides to access that helped me learn the material and pass the tests! We had a test at the end of every two weeks. Each test had a two hour time limit but you were able to take them three times and the best score was taken! The only test that you were not able to retake in that class was the final and it too had a 2 hour time limit. Doing the homework is necessary as it can really help to boost your grade! Professor Bienstock was a very supportive instructor who was prompt to answer all questions that you had and he would give good feedback on the forums. There were only 8 forums spread out over the 16 weeks so that was nice!

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure that you keep up with the homework! You can easily earn 100% on the homework assignments and though it might be time consuming, it's not overwhelming in any manner. Take advantage of being able to retake the tests because that will only better your grade. Participate in the forums because that will earn you a few extra points and it will help keep you connected to the class better. Utilize the extra help and make sure to look over the power points that are given. They give a good overall look at what you're going to be studying over two weeks!
