    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course! Dr. Tobiason covers a lot of material, while still going into great detail about what matters.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of the course was definitely the lab work. We got to learn and practice aseptic technique, and design our own experiment to isolate and possibly discover a new bacterium.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would definitely suggest doing the readings from the book, and taking notes. While most test questions come from her lectures, some come just from the readings. My detailed notes is what got me through!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course to anyone who is interested in disease and sickness. This course focuses on how and why bacteria and viruses are able to infect and take over the human body. The material was complex, and the tests were difficult, but lecture was never boring. There were class activities and interactions to grasp hard concepts, and interesting videos that helped apply the knowledge to daily life.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to learn in this class. It was difficult to reach a higher level of studying and test-taking but I feel this class is great for undergraduates planning to attend graduate school. It mimics the intensity of graduate school without being too overwhelming. Further, I learned how to pick out important aspects of a wealth of information to be able to get the best grade possible.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would make sure to study for this course at least one hour a day. It will make it easier to recall information as it is a lot of memorization.
