    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is though. I took AP Bio in high school and still struggled at times. Dr. Kemp is very understanding and the resources offered are endless (TA, office hours, tutors, peer tutors, ect.). Take action in the class early, go to lecture, and actually study!

    Course highlights:

Dr. Kemp is hilarious. The class starts off a bit easy, but goes very in-depth and micro, but just make sure to pay attention, take thorough notes, and to ask questions.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention, take thorough notes, and to ask questions.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Kemp was easily one if the best professors I had in my first semester at Marquette. Professor Kemp's tests will blindside you and you will definitely feel like you are failing the class but the perks of the way his class is set up is that if you're doing everything that you can you will succeed. Go into his office hours and clear up concepts that you need cleared up. He notices your effort and wants to help you.

    Course highlights:

Biology 1001 focuses on big picture biology like Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis. Professor Kemp forces you to think critically, you can't just memorize vocabulary for this class you must be able to look at the big picture ideas and understand the large concepts. His class is set up in order for you to learn as much as possible. It is the classic case of you get out what you put in.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Get to know Professor Kemp; go into his office hours. Sit front row. Read and take notes the night before. Don't binge study--it won't work!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Kemp is a great professor, you can ask him any questions and he will answer and is a very approachable man. Makes lectures interesting, yet he is one of the harder teachers. He challenges and makes students see the big picture, does make tests very difficult but curves them.

    Course highlights:

Trying to adjust to tests is the highlight and how fun he makes lectures. Trying to learn his style of testing and teaching is a challenge itself, but it does make you become more involved in the course and you can't just memorize terms it doesn't help, you actually have to know the material and how it works.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

keep up with the readings that way when tests come closer you are caught up and just have to learn the big picture rather than catch up on 5 chapters.
