    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This course is the introduction to programming, the first step in Software Engineering. It uses Java to introduce elementary topics in object-oriented programming to make students comfortable with reading and producing code.

    Course highlights:

This course covers classes, methods and variable types, the essence of Java programming. Everything from the syntax of good code to specific methods and techniques that are essential to writing code in Java.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Most of the code in this course is meant to be easy to work with. If the weekly lab doesn't make sense or isn't working properly, there is likely a misunderstanding of what is expected, or the necessary techniques were only mentioned in passing during class. Five minutes with your professor will solve most issues.
