    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it introduces students into the world of statistics. It is a lot to learn but it is important to know how to read data. When you know the rules and what to look for then you are able to spot out lies that being told.

    Course highlights:

The teacher was very passionate and really wanted us to learn the material. It was a tougher course but he made it very passable. You learn how to read and use the different tables and what the significance of each number is. You hypothesize and determine what the data is trying to tell us. This course teachers you how to read data and whether it was significant or not. During this course we were required to read a book called "How to lie with statistics" by Darrell Huff. This book showed the many different ways that companies and organizations lie or stretch there numbers/ data. It is important to know what the numbers you are looking at really mean and by knowing how to lie with statistics, you are then taught how not to. Being taught the ethics in statistics and how to be ethical was a big point in this course. It is important to be ethical and the professor really pointed that out.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Sit closer to the teacher. Those in the first two rows usually participated more and therefore learned more. Do not be afraid to ask questions and to go up after class for further help. Use the tutor services if you need to. Practice a lot so you can get familiar with the information and swing of things. Try not to stress out so much and just put the work and study time into it .
