    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I was not really looking forward to taking a grammar class in college, it seemed like it would be unbearably boring. But I was pleasantly surprised with how Dr. Mann lead the class! It was very easy to follow and I enjoyed our time spent together in the classroom.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course for me was realizing that grammar does not have to be this big scary thing that I should dread, and instead is something I should be proud of being able to get a grasp of!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice to anyone taking this course would be make sure you do the readings throughout the semester, it helps in class and makes the material a lot easier to comprehend. And don't be afraid to ask questions! Dr. Mann is wonderful about answering all questions I had in a kindly and helpful manner.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to anyone studying a language, or to anyone who has an interest in grammar. Dr. Mann does a fantastic job teaching the material and helping answer any questions that the students may have.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about the structure of the English language. I learned more about how it is used than how it should be used. I also learned a lot about how sentences in English are structured. My favorite part of the course was learning about different dialects in the English language. Dr. Mann has a lot of first hand experience with these different dialects and also with different languages.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell students to take good class notes and read the readings that are assigned outside of class. You will be able to keep up a lot easier with the class discussions if you are up to date with the out of class readings. Also, I would tell students to practice a lot. This material, especially the grammar trees take a lot of practice to perfect your skills.
