Since this is a mandatory course if your major is actuarial studies, I wouldn't say recommend or not recommend doing the course. However, I would say that you would learn immensely if you put consistent effort into it weekly. Rule of thumb would be 5 hours weekly (2 hour lecture, 1 hour tutorial, 2 hours at home), this would save you a lot of time and stress when exam time comes along.
