The freshman euphoria is definitely a thing: the beginning of a semester will be great and filled with amazingly clever and well thought out parties, and there's a good chance you'll have a blast. But after a few weeks (sometimes only days), people realize that they're actually students and need to do well in school.
you'll just painfully end the semester having intimate get-togethers with friends, play silly drinking games, and occasionally go to a lame frat party. It's honestly not as morbid as I make it sound, but you get the idea.

From there, parties kinda die out; less people show up; the people throwing parties don't even put effort into them; if you're part of 75-80% of student body who's not in a frat or sorority.
