This class was tough.
Most students take this class because it's a requirement, and taking orgo I will certainly make organic chemistry as a whole feel like something you have to trudge through. Hafensteiner brings a little more life back into the course. Granted, it's still a difficult class, but if you keep up with the material and take thorough notes on his lectures, it isn't too hard to succeed in the class.
This course builds off of orgo I, especially in terms of synthesis. However, Hafensteiner will play up arrow-pushing mechanisms and concepts a lot more than Goodman does. It's also really nice to have the same professor teaching the class and the lab.

Advice for students:
Go to class. Sure he records the lectures but you won't be able to keep up with them if you stop going to class. Making sure you really understand his lectures and his workshops will get you a B+ or higher.
