    Descartes’ cogito as autonomous reason as containing twin pillars of modernity & the fundamental problem [of solipsism/egocentric predicament] the cogito generates:

    Definition:

    -Descartes’ knower (the cogito, literally “I think”) – autonomous reason -The cogito contains twin pillars of modernity: Freedom and Reason -Free from doubt (I think therefore I am), so now can move forward (reason) -Fundamental problem of solipsism (the theory that the self is all that is known to exist) / egocentric predicament (somehow has to get outside of knowing only self, even though you cannot trust the senses).
