This course also provided me with knowledge in regards to feminism and the understanding and application of literary devices used by authors.

    Course highlights:

I gained a thorough understanding of the culture associated with gender roles and how we perceive women and men. I learned about the expression of masculinity and femininity in America. I learned about the importance of considering all viewpoints in an argument or controversy and formulating a concise response in my essays.

    Advice for students:

Read and do outside research on topics you are unfamiliar with. Always start an essay by organizing information in an outline. Rough drafts are also important and participating in class discussions.
