Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is an amazing process of exploration within the media and society today. It highlights very influential aspects of the media that humans are exposed to every day. It also re-instates the importance of having a voice and acknowledging when society is attempting to take that away.

    Course highlights:

I learned so many different theories that apply to the way media and identity is perceived. I learned about the ways ads affect humans - implicit messages, explicit messages, manipulative tendencies, and more. I learned about how race, gender, sexuality, and other demographics have a way of influencing things like music, film, commercials, and other forms of media. I was able to look at current figures of the media (celebrities, politicians, etc) and analyze how they are represented. Overall, it was very informative and I really enjoyed the subject material.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I think reviewing the notes is very important for the exams. Attending class and paying attention to lecture helps the overall understand of the material; there are a lot of examples. Class discussion is also very fun, and the more that students contribute, the easier it is to understand.
