    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Dvir is not an easy professor. He expects students to go above and beyond what is learned in class. That being said, when you come out of BIO 425, you will know more than you thought possible about biochemistry. He has students use these biochemical maps that we must draw out that really help establish the connections between pathways. Memorize them and go over them repeatedly! You will be tested on them! Also, do not wait until the last minute to start your big paper and presentation for the semester. This counts for a big part of your grade. Be able to answer questions about your topic that are not included in your presentation! A lot of people lost credit for only knowing what was in their powerpoint.

    Course highlights:

I felt I really understood processes of the body upon completion. I struggled a bit in biochem I and orgo II, and this class really brought it all together.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Draw the pathways out, over and over again! Do not wait until the last minute. Make sure you know instead of memorize!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course makes the rest of your degree make sense. You know all those years when you've been wondering "am I ever even going to use this information?" You use it all here. Stay up on the material! Once you're behind, it's extremely difficult to catch back up. So stay serious about your work.

    Course highlights:

In BIO 425, bio, organic and general chemistry all come full circle and everything makes sense! It is very satisfying. It focuses on the biochemical pathways within the human body.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Use a whiteboard and repeat, repeat, repeat. You will need to know your reactions like the back of your hand. It is much easier drawing them out over and over that just staring at a book!
