Western is a large school, but it still manages to be friendly to sexual orientations, First Nations people, and the racially diverse. Racial and derogatory comments are very rare; in fact, I have never seen a racially-charged incident on campus.
Western professors are racially and religiously diverse and highly-qualified. Western is exemplary of Canadian universities in its multicultural campus and high-level of tolerance for differing religious and political views.

Advice for students:
UWO has many ethnic clubs that encourage free speech and individuality. Western has excellent Women's and Queer Studies programs and a leading First Nation's Studies department.I've noticed at other schools that taxis can be paid with student cards.
