Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Highly recommended! This module covers the fundamental principles and practice of design and construction for real estate developments by examining the key building elements and technologies. It places emphasis on how design and construction affect property value, maintainability, function and use of the building. Students will acquire skills in the interpretation of building drawings and appreciation of construction methods and materials.

    Course highlights:

I took this module as part of my core modules for Real Estate during my Year 1 Semester 1. This module provides a general introduction to concepts in building design and construction. Topics include the importance and role of aesthetics, functionality, shape and size in building design; as well as materials, methods, types, dangers and the economics involved in construction. Numerous case studies will be assessed where relevant.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Open book, essay questions which require not only recitation of points but also evaluation.
