Meetings Outside of Class
Not too easy. Not too difficult.
Mr. Martin approaches the class differently compared to other professors. His goal for his students is not to fully understand the material he presents. But to grow as a person based on their increased understanding of themselves. He only uses the readings and materials as tools for you to better understand yourself as a person in order to make those changes. He does expect everyone to get the same results from the class, in fact he encourages different results because he keeps in mind that every student comes from a different background, and will therefore have different experiences prior to taking the class. I recommend this class to anyone who wants to grow individually as a person.
The main highlight of this course is compassion, and how it is more of an asset to us than we realize. At first, many would see compassion as a weakness, since it requires you to get in touch with your feelings; however that is not entirely the case. Compassion is a form of knowledge when mastered, enables a person to be aware of their own feelings as well as others. This skill will allow a person to read situations, appeal to peoples' senses, and stay in control of their own emotions, which is all very essential for both personal and professional atmospheres.

Advice for students:
If you choose to take this course (which is a great idea by the way), be prepared to accept everything that the class offers before making a decision. This class will bring out different results for everyone, but that is what make it fun. You will meet new people while learning more about yourself in the process. If you are considering to take this course, embrace the class and complete the assignments accordingly, for it will be worth it in the end.
