Not too easy. Not too difficult.
To be completely honest, Hamilton is not the best place to be. It's always described as a "sketchy" city and the general neighborhood atmosphere isn't that great. the quality of housing varies depending on price, obviously.
If you can afford it, there are a few apartments or houses that provide good quality and spacious living space. Rooms aren't too hard to find as long as you look for them earlier on.On the cheaper side, there are old houses near the school with tiny rooms and creaking floors.

Advice for students:
McMaster does not recognize greek life on campus. However, there are still about 4-5 fraternities and 4-5 sororities that operate. This includes Black, Asian and Jewish-focused fraternities/sororities. Again, because McMaster does not recognize GL.
