Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Financial Management or FIN 320 is extremely important. As a college student and becoming an adult you need to learn how to manage your own finances. Especially when you plan on financing a home, a car, budgeting, and so on. Every college student should take this course.

    Course highlights:

My highlight in this course was that I learned how to finance my own car without the need of a car salesman when I purchased a new car in February. I have owned two cars. The first car I had was destroyed in an accident, but luckily I had some insurance to take care of the total loss. But my biggest problem was that I was practically cheated on the financing of my first car. I was paying more than I should have and for a car that was really not worth the price it was at. I was nineteen years old when I first purchased my car, but I did not know anything about financing, APR rates, IRR rates, and the math that went into financing a car. I just let the car salesman take care of the math (which was a mistake). When I took my Financial Management course I learned how to finance a car with an example problem and it was extremely simple. It was not hard at all and I felt like a fool, I was cheated on in the finance and it was so simple that I could have done it myself. I was ignorant and was easily intimidated by numbers, but this course has helped me grow and learn how to budget and how to finance my own money.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise students to purchase a financial calculator immediately. Practice and studying is also key to passing this course with flying colors. Students will also have to come to class with an open mind and an eagerness to learn, I was motivated by a mistake to take this course because I did not want to repeat what happened to me. I am almost done with this course but I can say that I feel more secured with handling my own finances without any help.
