    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Hoese is an enthusiastic and passionate professor. I truly enjoyed his lectures, and the textbook he assigned covered exactly what was needed to study for the exams.

    Course highlights:

You will learn many of the basic biological concepts that you will need in your upper division bio courses. Try to start getting an idea of what area of biology you wish to pursue from what is covered in the course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take your first couple core bio classes seriously. Read Read Read the textbook and ask questions in lecture.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is amazing. The professor that I had was passionate about what he tought and he tried all he could to get to know his students. He pushed his students to think outside the box and to connect past concepts with current ones.

    Course highlights:

One of the requirements of this course were field trips. The most memorable field trip was to the Mojave Desert where we observed scorpions in their natural habitat at night and obtained leave samples of numerous desert plants. I learned that although the desert contains a very hot environment, it houses animals and plants of various characteristics that allow them to survive in such a harsh environment. I learned that there is so much more a student can learn outside of the classroom through hands-on experiences.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice for this course is study study study!!! Also I would suggest the use of the SI sessions that the biology department provides and to ask questions in class because the professor is knowledgable and enjoys answering questions the students have. Review for the tests about a week before and be sure to practice connecting multiple concepts.
