Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I've taken similar courses to this western civ class in high school, but the professor completely enhanced my learning experience. She has such a deep knowledge of the societal complexities and the way civilization developed during this time period that can actually envision it happening as she lectures. She maintains a positive attitude through the good, the bad, and the ugly, and her odd fun facts about everyday life make this time period that can often be rigorous to learn about interesting.

    Course highlights:

This course goes in depth on the Renaissance, French Revolution, Industrial Revolution, Imperialism, and World Wars. Basically every major era from the 1700's to 1950's explained, analyzed, compared and contrasted.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely get help from T.A.'s on your essays. They are worth 50% of your grade and you can easily save yourself some headache and grade points by taking a rough drafts to office hours two times throughout the entire quarter. Also, midterms and finals will be tough if you are not a good timed writer.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Its a very interesting course and pertinent to European politics today. Not too hard and if you pay attention in lectures the content is easy to understand. There are weekly sections where you are expected to have done the readings and ready to discuss, but the TAs are awesome and very knowledgeable.

    Course highlights:

Major events are WWI, WWII, the reconfiguration of Europe, decolonization, the Cold War, and modernity in Europe.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to lecture and be prepared for section!
