    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

A lot of reading, but if you understand the materials, it's really easy.

    Course highlights:

It's a really good class to learn about the history of Asian migration to the US.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are okay with reading, consider taking this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Park is super friendly and helpful. Readings are quite dense but necessary. Going to office hours help a lot and he may offer to make you tea and snacks. Really interesting person and enjoyable to talk to.

    Course highlights:

Some of the course material was really boring, but at the same time, some parts are engaging. I don't believe most people will enjoy all the material, I think everyone can find something that they'll enjoy in the class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Actually do the readings. Professor park gives similar essay prompts a day or two in advance and if you do the readings, the prompts can to answered well without trouble.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I really enjoyed taking ASAM 2 my fall quarter of freshman year. It was a rigorous yet interesting class that helped me transition from high school to college. Professor Park is very dedicated to his work and so focus’s a lot more on his students than usual intro class professors. He warns his class at the beginning of the quarter that ASAM 2 will have at least 20 pages of reading per day but for me, I didn’t mind because I was interested in learning about Asian migration in regards to different parts of Asia.

    Course highlights:

I gained knowledge on how to effectively read scholarly documents, something I did not do very well prior to college. In addition, I really liked how invested Professor Park was, especially with his Honors section. He was always willing to help and took to understand his students' point of view.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Always do the reading. The class is heavy on reading but it is definitely do able and worthwhile. Professor Park basically lets you know what questions will be on the midterms and finals so there's no excuse for you to say that the professor did not prepare you well enough!
