Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course did a really good job of introducing me to the field of anthropology. The assignments are very diverse, and the final grade is comprised of much more that just a midterm and a final. We got to learn about anthropology and learn as anthropologists ourselves. This gave me good insight into what it would mean to go deeper into this field of study. The only reason I give four stars is the lectures can be really repetitive and the workload is not minimal.

    Course highlights:

The best part of this course was the variety of assignments. Instead of just reading and taking notes, we had to participate in online exercises examine relevant social issues, we read a relevant anthropology text (not the text book), we watched films and turned in summaries, we did our own study on a "real world" group of people, we even had to do a homework assignment where analyzed a scene from Star Wars. I learned a lot about perspectives!

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would say you don't need to read the textbook chapter each week, but I would recommend defining the chapter key terms weekly and maybe finding an example. Definitely go to lecture and take notes because he tests on things he says (verbally) during lecture. If you go to lecture you don't really need to read. Follow the steps of the ethnographic paper on time and do each step because it is easier than it sounds at first and it is really rewarding at the end. Be open minded and patient!

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Lecture is slightly boring if you're not too interested in Cultural Anthropology. There's a lot of vocab words to memorize and quite a bit of reading. The exams aren't too hard.

    Course highlights:

Learning new topics and terms I did not know before. There was also an interview paper that was beneficial and interesting. But it took a long time.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to lecture and go to TA office hours to get help with the term paper.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend if you want to gain a general knowledge about the study of anthropology and how to have an ethics view of different cultures around the world.

    Course highlights:

I learned about how to take an anthropological view of the world and different cultures around the world and be accepting of other groups views and practices while still being able to identify when something unethical is occurring.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Study, but don't stress about it.
