This class was tough.
This course was pretty difficult for a introductory class. The professor covered a lot of material and students were expected to know all of it.
Although I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone that is not particularly interested in the history of Latin America, I feel like the material was well presented and fairly interesting. I definitely gained a new perspective of Latin America and history as a whole through taking this class.
Hours per week:
Advice for students:
Read everything; the material covered in lecture, in the reader, and in the main text correspond every week so it helps to review each so that the material really sticks. Dates ARE important; while students aren't expected to merely regurgitate dates and events, the TAs and professor expect that they will have at least a general time frame of main events and can describe time periods in chronological order.
