Not too easy. Not too difficult.
I did take time off after my first year because I didn't fit in and I was having a hard time coping, so it was affecting my mental health negatively. Since recovering I've been able to come back a more confident person and have a better time being here.
I'd meet really smart kids in my classes, and they would party on the weekends--something I don't like to do. I had to join a lot of clubs to meet people with the same interests as I do. I would choose UCSB all over again if I could, if I still got into the same schools.

Advice for students:
It's easy to fade into obscurity, especially if you are introverted and you are not of the "work hard play hard" mentality. Some of us just like to work hard, and not play, at least not in the same ways other people do.
