    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This is the first course you'll take if you're just getting into linguistics, and it provides a good basis for further learning.

    Course highlights:

In this course I learned the major fields of linguistics and what differentiates them from each other. I learned the basics of phonetics, phonology, morphology and syntax. The course also provides good clarification for what linguistics is NOT, which is definitely necessary because many students come into the class with incorrect assumptions about the field.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

If you attend every class, you will certainly learn all the required material. Professor Kennedy is very qualified to teach this course and will be glad to clarify any topic.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Learning in depth about morphemes, syntax, and phonology got a little diffiuclt at times but the class was definitely worth it.

    Course highlights:

I loved learning about the social side of linguistics and why there are certain ideologies towards certain ways of speaking. This class made me realize I wanted to take on a minor in socio-cultural linguistics

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the textbook because there is an online quiz before the class based on textbook material. Take notes on the slides he puts up.
