Not too easy. Not too difficult.
McCarty is an amazing lecturer. I always recommend anyone to take a class by him. His grading style is so easy and 40% of the grade is homework quizzes. No midterm or final just two papers.
I'm an econ major as well so I found the material incredibly interesting..it's all about discussing how mainstream economics (neoliberalism, laissez-faire style economics) is only one option and it discusses alternative ways for the world system to be run economically in a way that is socially and environmentally more responsible.

Advice for students:
Take it. Do the readings for the quizzes and papers. Lecture is not super necessary but it does help to get the main ideas more clearly. Overall, it was a very easy upper division, even for people who do not have economics backgrounds.
