Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

She is a bit fast-paced, but she's open to questions and genuinely tries her best to address any issues her students may have. Her office hours helped me a lot.

    Course highlights:

iClickers helped me engage with peers; it allows for discussion along with extensive understanding of test-related topics. The concepts taught were in manner that most students could best benefit.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Never, ever, ever disregard office hours! She's very helpful and will cover any topic you need. Do practice problems- they'll help for tests. And devote time to MasteringChem, it's worth it!

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Out of all the professors teaching CHEM 111A, Professor Chen is the student's best shot. She attempts to present the concepts in a simple manner, providing quirky examples to help with memorization.

    Course highlights:

The labs were interesting and they provided a great source of learning for the course. I learned many concepts from the wide spectrum of chemistry, from stoichiometry to particle orbitals.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

You need to take good notes, especially example problems. Practice solving problems to really learn the concepts. Do not be afraid to stay late and talk with the professor during office hours or after lab. Studying in groups helps a lot.
