    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is a highly informative and very structured history class. The teacher is committed to facts and thoroughly covers each subject in the limited amount of time. The course is challenging and informative, and is an excellent understanding of United States History through 1865. I learned a considerable amount about US History and came to feel the events as they truly happened.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course for me were the in-depth discussions of events in United States history, and the reading of Frederick Douglas' autobiography. I highly appreciated the teacher's desire to stick to establish facts and avoid entering into discussions of the right or wrong of a situation; the focus of the class was on what happened, which allowed me to firmly grasp history as events of significance.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this course, you must show up to class, take thorough notes, and do the readings on time. This is not a course that can be breezed through; attendance, attention and hard work are the keys to success. A student who applies themselves throughly can succeed in this course and come out with a greater understanding.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

She is a lot more lenient on homework and grading during her summer course

    Course highlights:

Learning about the oppression throughout US History and how there are many things that US History textbooks leave out, which can be very shocking.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Attend every class and do all of the readings

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I really enjoyed taking this class. It helps that I like learning about history, but professor Thompson really made it interesting. His lectures were always full of life which made remembering the material very easy!

    Course highlights:

We learned everything from the end of the Civil War to present time. I learned a lot about post WWII, what the 70s were like, and how present day terrorism was born. It is very neat to have this in my "arsenal" when discussing history with family and friends.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would make sure you read the assigned reading and do the study questions. Also, PLEASE read the three books he assigns. This is very pertinent to the information that will be on tests. Finally, you have to show up for class. Missing even one day will make you feel lightyears behind.
